Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine provides full service emergency care. Howard University Hospital's emergency department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and receives more than 45,000 patient visits annually.

Our emergency department is staffed with board-certified physicians who are specially trained and equipped to handle all types of medical and surgical emergencies.

The emergency department includes three major resuscitation rooms, an OB/GYN suite, a chest pain center and a Fast Track/Urgent Care facility.
